Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Release Date, Specs, News & Update: Things To Know About Newest Chipset; 5 Smartphones Tipped To Sport The SoC

As Android smartphone-manufacturing behemoths Samsung Electronics, HTC, LG along with OnePlus and Xiaomi are about to launch their flagship iterations in 2017, another firm is now en route to introducing its newest masterpiece for these much-awaited entries. Qualcomm's highly-anticipated Snapdragon 835 is not only most-sought these days but its specifications would also give more panache to these offerings.

One of the most hallmark features of the brand new, top-of-the-line chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is that it is the firm's first 10nm chipset. Notably, its siblings Snapdragon 821 and 820 were equipped with a much lesser 14nm manufacturing process. As such, a smartphone that is armed with the Snapdragon 835 would entail a more powerful and a more efficient performance.

What Makes Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 More Powerful?

For the uninitiated, a chipset that has more transistors is technically rendered to be the more efficient one. These transistors are akin to tiny electronic switches that enable computer systems such as smartphones to get things done in a timely and sometimes, much quicker fashion. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835's 10nm (nanometres) feature would equate to a thousand times smaller strand of hair that is equipped in a chipset.

Meanwhile, the transistors on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 are more densely packed. While it sounds a bit too good to be true, the feat of equipping more transistors in a chipset is getting more difficult these days. At the moment, only Samsung and Taiwan's TSMC are able to replicate 10nm chipsets, apart from Qualcomm of course.

Smartphones That May Come With Snapdragon 835

Alongside the imminent release of Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is the accompanying speculations as to which smartphones are slated to get equipped with it. Among the purported flagship entries that may come with the chipset are Samsung Galaxy S8, HTC 11 and OnePlus 4. Meanwhile, Xiaomi Mi 6, LG G6 and the heavily-rumored Microsoft Surface Phone are also tipped to join the bandwagon.
