Many fans expect Seth Rollins and Triple H to start their feud soon to set up their much-anticipated match at WrestleMania 33. However, the plans for Rollins have changed and he might not face Triple H at the biggest event of 2017.
According to Cageside Seats, Triple H is set to return to television very soon to resume his feud with "The Architect." It should be noted that "The Game" attacked Rollins and screwed him out of the WWE Universal Championship.
The seeds for the feud have been planted for several months already and it is ready to be sown since Rollins is a full-blown babyface. However, the plans for the mentor and protégé have been changed due to some reasons.
Vince McMahon is reportedly more interested in having Rollins have a match with Finn Balor, per Pro Wrestling Unlimited. It is pointed out that it will be built up as a rematch of the two superstars that fought for the WWE Universal championship at SummerSlam this year.
However, there are a lot of problems in booking a potential "The Architect" vs. "The Demon King" match at WrestleMania. First off, Rollins has already turned face and a match with Triple H could have cemented that.
Second, the match will likely not be for WWE Universal title which could make it more meaningless. It should be noted that Balor is still not medically cleared to return to the ring. He underwent shoulder surgery in late August and he is expected to be out for six months.
Nevertheless, Triple H vs. Rollins is currently a backup plan just in case Balor is not 100 percent healthy before WrestleMania 33. The matchup was originally scheduled to happen at WrestleMania 32 but Rollins suffered a knee injury.
Currently, Rollins is set to face Chris Jericho at Roadblock: End of the Line. On the other hand, the WWE is holding off the return of the Triple H because the NFL season is not yet done.
