'Destiny' Latest News & Update: Sparrow Racing League Private Matches To Remain After Dawning Winter Event

Recent "Destiny" news revealed that Sparrow Racing League will stay in the game's private match system after the Dawning winter event. The Dawning winter event will end of Jan. 3, 2017 and introduce the second year of Sparrow Racing League.

'Destiny' Sparrow Racing League Season 2

IGN stated that Scott Taylor, "Destiny" executive producer, confirmed at PlayStation Experience 2016 that Sparrow Racing League will continue to be available as part of the private match system. SRL staying is significant for "Destiny" players after the game showcased fewer content releases for "Rise of Iron" and the new exotic machine gun quests being connected to the Sparrow Racing League.

The live team at Bungie presented two alternate versions of the Thunderlord exotic at the Dawning event. These are called "Abbadon" and "Nova Mortis," which are the solar and void forms of the fast-fire machine gun in "Destiny."

The Dawning Event Details

Game Informer wrote that the "Destiny" Dawning event spans three weeks, featuring various holiday-themed gifts, game modes and gear rewards. Strike Scoring is also available, which is adjusts strike play to encourage strong and smart battles. The objective is to go for both individual and team scoring through the strike playlists. Three classic strikes will be revised to feature a SIVA theme.

Sparrow Racing League will return for the second year, bringing new changes and additions. There will be two new race courses, set on Mercury and Earth, respectively. "Destiny" players can acquire exclusive gear rewards from racing. The difference is in the new light-enabled armor, which can be infused up to high light values and used in various settings.

Previously, only helmets were light-enabled. There will also be new sparrows through the "Destiny" SRL event.

In "Destiny," Zavala will provide bounties as players make their way through strikes. Participating players can receive the Ice Breaker, the exotic sniper rifle, which has been redesigned and light-enabled.

"Destiny" gamers who complete the Zavala Nightfall bounty can get a chance to acquire the special weapon. The Tower will also be redesigned for the holiday season, with various wrapped gifts scattered around the structure. More updates and details on "Destiny: Rise of Iron" are expected soon.
