Huawei Mate 9 Release Date, Specs, Features, News & Update: Apple & Samsung Won’t Make It Easy For Huawei in US Markets

According to a report by IDC, Huawei now has a strong presence in Europe and is finding a lot of success there because of its P8 and P9 smartphones. The Huawei Mate 9 was announced in November and the handset is expected to be released in few EU nations and in China before Christmas. However, US will receive the handset only in January 2017.

Huawei is undoubtedly most popular in China and has maintained decent popularity in Europe. Currently it is focusing on the US. Huawei has always maintained a balance between its competitive specs in smartphones and smartphone pricing. The Huawei Mate 9 has a 5.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, reports GSMArena.

The Huawei Mate 9 is multi-touch enabled and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. It is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 960 processor and Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. It has 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card slot. Other prominent features of the handset are fast battery charging, fingerprint scanner and a non-removable Li-Po 4,000 mAh battery.

When it comes to Huawei Mate 9's camera specs, it sports an impressive dual 20 MP + 12 MP primary cameras with OIS, 2x zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. Other features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama and HDR. It has a secondary camera of 8MP.

As per the IDC report, Huawei's success in Europe is taking away share from two other tech biggies, Apple and Samsung. Huawei may make the Mate 9 smartphone available to the US market via AT&T as it is facing a patent problem with T-Mobile. The Huawei Mate 9 costs €699 (US$750) in Europe. Apple and Samsung won't make it easy for Huawei Mate 9 in US territories.
