'The Trans List' News & Update: HBO Documentary Features Maine Student

HBO is back with another list that is more important than Arya Stark's - "The Trans List". On top of that, it features a young girl from the University of Maine.

HBO has been one of the front liners in advocating for the LGBTQ community. Three years ago, the network produced "The Out List", a series of testimonials from gay people who already came out of the closet. And now, the network is back with "The Trans List".

"The Trans List" is a documentary directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders. The show, just like its predecessor, gives time and attention to each speaker to tell their own story. One of its speakers is a young University of Maine student, Nicole Amber Maines, NBCNews.com reports.

Maines is a transgender student. Her battle on how her right to use a girls' bathroom led to a court ruling in Maine is being featured in "The Trans List".

Maines shared on "The Trans List" that she was bullied in secondary school because of the bathroom issue. In an interview with NPR, she said that the school even hired a bodyguard just to make sure that she is would use the staff bathroom instead of the girls'.

Even so, she still got her entire family's support. "The Trans List" speaker, Maines, shared that it feels great knowing that people are now doing something about the issue.

On top of that, the state court ruled that her rights were violated. Now, Maines inspires others to overcome their obstacles.

Aside from Maines, Kylar Broadus, Buck Angel and Shane Ortega are featured as well in "The Trans List" along with Janet Mock and Amos Mac. Vaid Menon, Diane Sawyer and Bill Simons also shared their stories.

Caitlyn Jenner also opened up about her experience as well. Laverne Cox also was also featured in "The Trans List".
