Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Double XP Weekend Now Live for Season Pass Holders
Good news for all Season Pass holders of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. A letter was sent out to all holders by Treyarch's Studio Head Mark Lamia this morning informed them that another of the studio's infamous weekends is now live for Double XP and Double Weapon XP.
The letter reads:
"I'm Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch, the makers of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. On behalf of the entire studio, I'd like to thank you for supporting us during the development of Black Ops II. Quite simply, without you, none of this is possible.
As a token of our appreciation we're extending an exclusive offer to our Season Pass holders starting this morning at 10 am/PDT: we're turning on both Double XP & Double Weapon XP and it will run throughMonday, October 14 at 10 am/PDT. We've never done this before, but thought that it was an appropriate way to show our appreciation to those that committed to the Season Pass.
Again, thank you for all of your support and we look forward to keeping you up to date on the happenings at our studio, as we go into production on our next title. The studio recently celebrated the release of the game's final DLC, Apocalypse, for PlayStation 3 and PC. Like all the other pieces of DLC (Vengeance, Revolution, and Uprising), Apocalypse is available to Season Pass holders, but $14.99 for everyone else. Apocalypsecontains the following maps:
- Pod: A failed utopian community from the 70′s has left stacks of dilapidated residential pods nestled into an abandoned cliff side in Taiwan. Its residents long gone, the modernist compound now hosts frenetic combat as players must run atop the pods, as well as navigate their multi-tiered interiors for a strategic edge.
- Frost: Fresh snow meets explosive gunpowder in this snow-capped European city, where the bridge over a frozen canal separates it into two sides, requiring players to employ multi-level traversal strategies to outsmart and ultimately outshoot their enemies.
- Takeoff: Fans of "Stadium" from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC will find themselves at home on "Takeoff." Marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this remote launch site is all about close-quarters combat, combining tight corners with open spaces for intense encounters.
- Dig: An adaptation of the fan-favorite "Courtyard" from Call of Duty: World at War, where two archeological dig sites in Afghanistan become the perfect playground for combatants eager for hectic, unceasing confrontations. Treyarch, has retained the spirit of "Courtyard" with two major chokepoints, a wide open layout and raised platforms, but has provided fans with a fresh take on the multitude of paths.
The DLC also has "Origins," the latest addition to the game's zombie mode, which is packed with trench warfare, insane mechs, and all accompanied by a new song from Avenged Sevenfold, "Shepherd of Fire," which will be on their new album, "Hail to the King."
"Apocalypse is Treyarch's grand finale to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2," said Treyarch studio head, Mark Lamia. "It is the perfect culmination of our efforts, and fan feedback, with two all-new multiplayer maps for players to experience for the first time, and two fully reimagined fan-favorite multiplayer maps from past games - and Origins, our most epic Zombies experience to date." Summing up, Lamia called Apocalypse "a DLC pack that our fans will never forget."
The DLC's been out on the 360 since August 27, and wasn't exactly heralded as much as it was tolerated. The two remake maps weren't as anticipated by fans as perhaps Treyarch was hoping for, and the DLC does little more than just follow the basic formula gamers have seen a million times over. It currently carries a 66 rating at Metacritic.
