Halo 3 Now Free for Xbox Live Gold Members

Getting Might and Magic for Free May Not Be a Great Deal, but Halo 3 for Free Definitely Is

It was not long ago when it was revealed that there would be a few titles that would take advantage of Microsoft’s “Games With Gold” scheme back at the company’s E3 presentation in June. While the first game in the scheme – Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes HD – didn’t really draw that much attraction, the second title in that initiative is sure make a lot of fans happy - Halo 3.

Last month, Xbox LIVE's Major ‘
Larry Hyrb’ Nelson informed fans that alongside Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes HD, Halo 3 would be free on Xbox Live on Oct. 16.

Halo 3, originally released back in July 2007, saw the continuation of Master Chief’s journey forward in the highly popular and critically acclaimed Halo series from Bungie. The game saw Master Chief return to finish the long-drawn and larger-than-life fight between the Covenant, the Flood, and the human race with a pulsating climax.

Apart from its epic storyline, the game also helped mould the Xbox 360’s online community with its dedicated multiplayer features. While supporting the system link multiplayer along with ambitious online features, Halo 3 became a major release at that time with the exciting 16-player multiplayer, 4-player campaign co-op, and DLC offerings.

As far as Microsoft’s “Games With Gold” program is concerned, the company wrote: “As our way of saying thanks to our qualifying Xbox Live Gold members, we’re giving you two free Xbox 360 games each month for the rest of the year. Each game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what.”

Other titles to join the Microsoft-based list of free games on Xbox Live include the likes of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Ascend: Hand of Kul, Spartacus Legends, TotemBall and more.
