Angry Birds Go Releases Date: Hits iOS and Android This December [TRAILER]

Angry Birds Plus Mario Kart Equals Angry Birds Go. Nifty upgrades included

What happens when Angry Birds meets Mario Kart? We get Angry Birds Go, of course. Rovio Entertainment has lifted the veil on its kart racer, Angry Birds Go, announcing that the game will be available as a free download starting Dec. 11.

Set on 3D Piggy Island, Angry Birds Go is set to offer exciting downhill racing experience alongside upgradable karts, a boatload of characters with unique special powers and a full 3D world.

The game will be available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10.

“Feel the rush as you fling those freewheeling birds and piggies down the track at breakneck speed, with plenty of twists and turns in a thrilling race to the finish line! But look out for hazardous roads, mischievous opponents riding your tail and special powers to put the race leader behind the pack,” the official page states. “And go from soapbox car to supercar by upgrading your ride!”

Rovio states that the game will be built from the ground up as a free-to-play title, and will arrive with a whole host of modes and features that will be included from the get-go. Moreover, players can also choose to start the race with the newly introduced range of collectible Angry Birds Go Telepod figures that will teleport the kart into the app.

“Hasbro’s TELEPODS will also be appearing in Angry Birds Go! – so, like with Angry Birds Star Wars II, you’ll also be able to teleport your favorite karts into the game. We’ll also offer a headstart for Angry Birds Go! with a special countdown app at the end of October – if you already have your Angry Birds Go! TELEPODS, then just scan them in to see what you’ll get in the game,” Rovio states.

Angry Birds Go is in line after the likes of Skylander and Angry Birds Star Wars II to make use of Hasbro's Telepod technology that allows players to scan related Angry Birds toys into the game and thereby letting the player choose the type of bird he wants to attack with, not to mention extending Rovio's Angry Birds merchandising empire.

It should be noted that the availability of the Telepods will vary in different regions. Also, the Telepods will be sold separately and are compatible with only select mobile devices. We've provided the list of compatible devices after the gameplay trailer below.
