Nokia First To Launch 5G In 2020? Verizon, AT&T Testing It Out [Already]
5G Technology trend is reportedly being taken on by a number of major carriers in the U.S. Previously, Verizon was rumored to be testing 5G Technology on several of its handsets. Recent reports have also revealed that AT&T was also bound to jump on the 5G Technology bandwagon as well.
It is said that AT&T has already began testing the next generation 5G Technology data transfer as well. In a recent blog post, the company has reportedly been noted as revealing that 5G Technology tests have already began with several handsets. Apparently, the major carrier was pointing to Intel and Ericsson to be testing the 5G Technology, Digital Trends reported.
It was further revealed that the 5G Technology tests are currently being held in one of the offices of AT&T in Austin, Texas. Four other major carriers are also rumored to be working on the 5G Technology. However, it is believed that Verizon and AT&T are well ahead of the game.
It should be noted that previous to the blog post, AT&T had already announced plans of testing 5G Technology in Austin by the end of 2016. Accordingly, the company reportedly wants to test 5G with 4K video as well as 5G for VOIP. It is expected that the first handset with the next-gen technology will be launched in 2020.
In other news, major global telecom equipment maker Nokia Inc. is rumored to be the first to reveal a handset with 5G Technology. Rumor has it that the company will reveal its plans at the IEEE Globecom 2016. It is said that Nokia may showcase how 5G Technology may save wireless network operators money, Investopedia reported.
5G Technology is also expected to deliver increased capacity at a faster speed to serve more users in the market. Nokia reportedly plans to showcase a spectrum access system to allow operators in the U.S. to use shared spectrum.
