Android 7.0 Nougat Release Date, News & Update: Android Platform Distribution Too Slow For Q4 2016? Android 6.0 Marshmallow Still Dominating?

Android 7.0 Nougat was noted to have moved slowly based on the Android platform distribution for the month of December. Tech analysts believe that the figures do not bring much excitement as the numbers did not change since last November.

The Android 7.0 Nougat numbers have reportedly moved slowly at 0.1 points compared to last month's 0.4 percent. Meantime, the Android 4.4 Kitkat has proven that it is not the most common API level of the Android platform, given the previous numbers indicating that it was toppled by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Considering that Kitkat's dominant streak went on for two years, experts believe that Marshmallow's current dominance does not bring any assurance of a long reign.

However, the result does not imply that the most common platform version is now only two API versions behind the previous version,  Android 7. 1 API Level 25.  In fact, reports suggest that the reason why Kitkat was able to dominate is due to the fact that the Android 5.1 and 5.0 were divided into two platform versions because of the varying API levels.

That said, Lollipop appears to remain the dominant Android version if the two versions will be combined, although Marshmallow is currently the single most common platform version of the single API level, Android Police reported. Meanwhile, the updated Android 7.1.1 Nougat is reported to provide more ways to express oneself. The latest Android software, which will be available soon, will allow the users to use emojis and gifs in new ways.

With Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the users can also search for and send gifs from their keyboards in Google's Allo, Hangouts and Messenger messaging services. This includes access to the new set of gifs that will feature more skin tones and roles for men and women.
