Android OS 2016 Latest News & Update: Gooligan Malware Infected Million Google Account! Check Out Your Phone Using These Tips

More than one million Google accounts have been hacked by hackers because of a problem with the Android system. According to digital security company of Google, devices with versions Android 4.2, Android 4.3, Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop are vulnerable to the Gooligan malware threat, responsible for about 13,000 new infections per day.

The problem is caused by malware that spreads through apps on the platform. Gooligan malware infects devices through fake, seemingly harmless apps. Initially found in the Google Play Store, these apps have already been removed by Google, but are still available on the web. Once installed, they are responsible for clearing the way for data leakage from users.

The virus can steal data from Google account and have unrestricted access to Google Play, Gmail, Google Photos, Google Docs, G Suite, Google Drive and other services embedded in Android. In addition, malicious apps are used to generate revenue for hackers. Infected devices by Gooligan malware increase the reputation of apps in the Play Store with 5-star ratings, and click on ads banners. Therefore, victims lose their data and still contribute to criminals making a profit directly from Google.

To know if your smartphone is already infected, it is important to know if there is excessive battery consumption for no apparent reason. In addition to spending more energy than normal, Gooligan malware can undermine device performance with many clicks on web advertising.

To avoid infection, do not install apps that are available outside the Google Play Store. Because the search giant has already removed the malicious apps from the official store, the danger lies only in independent sites. However, if you think you are already committed, follow the step by step to get rid of the problem. First, access your Android settings and go to the "Back up and reset" menu. Depending on the device, the section name can also be "Backup and Restore". Second, look for the option "Restore factory defaults". You're done!
