'Counter-Strike: Global Offensive' Latest News & Update: 'CS:GO'Modders Go Old School With 'Classic Offensive'; Changes Weather System [Watch Trailer]

"Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" is an upcoming mod of "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive." Its modder, Z00L, aims to reintroduce the retro look and weapon dynamics of the classic "Counter-Strike" game.

The Return of CS Version 1.6 Elements in "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive"

Recently, Z00L featured a "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" launch trailer, which is a remake of "CS" being created inside an actual remake of the same game. "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" aims to bring back the look and feel of "CS" version 1.6, which was highly popular over a decade ago.

The main objective of the mod is to properly showcase the gameplay from version 1.6 directly into "CS:GO," including the weapons, movement, sounds and everything else that players would like to experience in "CS:GO." Z00L teased that he is close to finishing "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive."

PCGamer reported that "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" is built inside the version of Source in "CS:GO." Players will need "CS:GO" to play "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive." There will reportedly be retro versions of famous maps like Dust2, Inferno, Italy and Mirage, which are also existent in the current version of the game.

The modder also introduced a number of adjustments to the maps for "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive." According to Z00L, he was not able to do a few things in "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" because of the current engine.

These are include wallbangs that are the same in version 1.6, remaking the crouching jump bug, and allowing players to see inside smoke particles. "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" will not have the tactical shield, changes in flashes, smoke time and grenade physics, add buying ammo, and playermodel selection, although a plugin may fix the issue.

Weather Changes in "CS: GO"

Eurogamer revealed that a couple of modders, Luke Millanta and Lewis Palfrey, also introduced a changing weather system to "CS:GO." The mod brings the first set of weather-changing maps, which includes 10 various weather patterns that are selected at the start of every round.

Dust2, Mirage, Overpass and Cache will feature the change at different intensities, and with side effects. The weather was designed to affect play and compel players to choose certain weapons depending on the circumstances. More updates and details on "Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive" and "CS: GO" are expected soon.
