Battlefield 4, one of the biggest upcoming FPS titles of the year, has received more new details related to in-game features. This time, DICE discussed taking combat to the skies with Battlefield 4's new jets.
According to reports, a certain YouTube user recently had the chance to try his hands out on the jets that will be offered alongside the game on final release. The user tried out Battlefield 4′s jets in the Paracel Storm multiplayer map during Conquest, and has released a video showing his experience. You can check it out for yourself at the bottom.
As per the video, the in-game jets include the likes of A-10 Warthog, Su-25TM Frogfoot, Q-5 Fantan, F35, J-20 and Su-50F-18. Moreover, the Super Hornet and SU-35 Flanker are possibly returning in the Second Assault DLC.
As the video shows, the jets are operating at a speed of 313, with greater range of speed and tighter turns, when compared to Battlefield 3. for the new game, however, the turn radius will be reduced for smaller loops with higher movement speed.
The video also adds that the third person view is now at an angle higher than before with the jets' nose still pointing upwards on the screen even if the jet rolls mid-air. The orientation related to the jets feel different from Battlefield 3 and will take a bit of time before players start getting used to it.
There will be a number of different ammo types for the main gun, which may later vary in terms of the player’s class and the type of planes the players choose.
Unless DICE makes any adjustments, players will be offered three different types of anti-air missiles, including Full Radar, Half Radar and Infrared. While the Full Radar can search for a target automatically, the Half Radar will contniue requiring a constant lock. However, Infrared could be a more reliable in this case as missiles can simply be fired and will head towards the target without need for a lock.
There are also different unlocks associated with the jets for players, including JDAM Bombs, which apart from manula guidance, can also head over to laser-designated targets. Players will also be able to track targets using vapour trails, which is a much better option in dogfighting.
Additionally, there is also a new Disable system, that will help players while maneuvering and regenerating health.
Battlefield 4 is currently scheduled to release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on Oct. 29 in North America and Nov. 1 in Europe, with versions for PS4 and Xbox One arriving in Q4 2013. Check out the full video below.
