Samsung appears to leave no stone unturned after its Galaxy Note 7 recall. Recent reports suggest that the South Korean tech giant is updating all the smartphones in its A-series to Android 7.0 Nougat and that includes Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Pro, Note 5 and Galaxy S6. The update is expected in the very first quarter of 2017.
The entire 2016 models from Samsung will likely get the update. Tech enthusiasts believe that rolling out the Android Nougat update to every Samsung smartphone will take time and this can only happen by the second quarter of 2017. It should also be noted that Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) and Galaxy A9 Pro run on Android Marshmallow. Hence, upgrading them to Nougat would be end of support.
According to SamMobile, Samsung is currently working on "Android 7.0 for the Galaxy S6 devices, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the Galaxy Note 5, and the Galaxy Tab S2." The company may soon release the 2017 iterations of Galaxy A smartphones. It is unlikely that Samsung would introduce the same user interface and features on all these devices except Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
The 2017 editions may ship with Android out of the box though fans may see Android 7.0 Nougat update in them along with the 2016 smartphones. It has also been reported that Samsung is rolling out the Grace UX update for Galaxy Note 5 in South Korea along with the Nougat update. This interface debuted on Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung is beta testing the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 5 test results are already out. Even Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge running on Android 7.0 Nougat have been spotted on GeekBench. The Galaxy Tab S2 may also receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update the same time as Note 5.
