It seems like the hordes of zombies from the Call of Duty titles of the yesteryear is slowing becoming passé, as a brand new shot Instagram video has revealed that Infinity Ward’s upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature a certain Extinction mode that will let players fight against aliens.
The news circulated when the official Call of Duty Instagram account recently posted a short video for a certain Extinction mode for Call of Duty: Ghosts, with a tagline that reads "Survive the Extinction." The video shows the Call of Duty: Ghosts logo being morphed into a weird alien-like form, complete with three glowing eyes.
The video was later backed by Imgur user smtkz, who posted some unconfirmed screenshots, apparently from the mode itself, suggesting that the mode is all about killing aliens and destroying their hideouts (or hives).
However, this is the not the first time that the Extinction mode for Call of Duty: Ghosts has come into play. It was not long ago when an achievement list for the game showed the existence of the mode. It was stated there that upon the completion of all Extinction challenges, players would be rewarded with the Completionist achievement / trophy.
The last time Call of Duty: Ghosts was in news was last week when Infinity Ward revealed the official PC requirements for the game. However, it was confirmed that instead of 50GB storage space, the game required 40GB.
The new game, powered by an ambitious new next-gen engine is expected to deliver “stunning levels of immersion and performance all while maintaining the speed and fluidity of 60 frames-per-second across all platforms.”
“Ten years after a devastating mass event, the nation's borders and the balance of global power have been redrawn forever. As what's left of the nation's Special Operations forces, a mysterious group known only as ‘Ghosts’ leads the fight back against a newly emerged, technologically-superior global power,” the official page for the same states.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is scheduled to hit PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on Nov. 5, with the game also being a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on their respective launch dates later that month.
