NBA News: Chris Bosh Looking To Return Next Season

The saga between All Star forward Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat seems to never end.  Recent reports has said that Chris Bosh is planning a comeback to the NBA next season.  As to which team, that remains to be seen.

Chris Bosh, 32, has not played this season.  The last time Chris Bosh played was February of last year.  The five time All Star has initially planned to play this 2016-2107 season.  But after taking a physical before the start of the season, signs of the blood clotting tissue that has sidelined him at the end of the past two seasons started showing signs again.

Despite the setback of another potentially career ending injury, Chris Bosh has repeatedly said that he wants to return to the NBA.  Miami Heat President Pat Riley, on the other hand, has stated that Chris Bosh' career with the Miami Heat is done.  It's a very complicated situation between Chris Bosh and Pat Riley.  On one end, you got Chris Bosh who clearly wants to play in order to collect the remaining $75 million of his contract.  On the other end is Pat Riley and the Miami Heat who don't want Chris Bosh to return so they can strike out Chris Bosh's contract off their salary cap.  The D-Day for both camps is on February 9, the one year anniversary of the last game Chris Bosh played.

The Miami Heat can waive Chris Bosh this February, thus they can apply to have Chis Bosh's salary wiped off their books.  But if Chris Bosh comes back and plays at least 25 more games with any other team in the NBA this season, the entire $75 million that he is owed goes back to the Miami Heat's books.  The Miami Heat could try to trade Chris Bosh, but considering his injury, that will not happen.  A buyout is also an option, but why would Chris Bosh take less money than he is owed from his guaranteed contract.

That's why Chris Bosh is pushing for a return this season.  That was his mindset before the season started.  But as of right now, that has changed.  His next course of action is to try to play next season.

That's good news for the Miami Heat.  At least right now, the Miami Heat could put off the Chris Bosh situation for a while and concentrate on trying to make deals before the trade deadline on Feb. 23.
