iPad Mini 5 Release Date, News & Update: New Impressive Specs & Features Revealed; 3D Touch Possible In iPad Mini 4’s Successor?
Apple fans have been looking forward to the unveiling of a new iPad Mini 5 at the company's October event. But the month has come and gone and the Cupertino-based tech giant still hasn't released an official word regarding the iPad Mini family.
It's been more than a year since Apple introduced an updated version of its iPad Mini lineup. The company has kept its silence regarding the existence of the iPad Mini 5. However, latest reports suggest that fans need not wait that long for a new iteration to be released. The iPad Mini 4's successor is reportedly arriving sometime in March 2017.
Apple first introduced its revamped iPad Pro 9.7 at a keynote event this March. Now, rumors suggest that this event will be repeated next year and it would be the venue for iPad Mini 5's launch. More interestingly, various news outlets reported that the device will debut alongside a new version of iPad Pro.
At the moment, everything that's said about the iPad Mini 5 are based on speculations so readers should take the information with a grain of salt. Per reports, the iPad Mini 5 is said to be renamed to iPad Pro mini as Apple is said to promote the Pro lineup. Whether or not this renaming is true, the device is expected to have a 7.9-inch retina display from its predecessor.
The iPad Mini 5 is also expected to be lighter and thinner than the iPad Mini 4. It will reportedly have an A10 processor, which is an improvement from the current model. This processor will be paired with a 3 GB of RAM. Also rumored to be onboard is an 8-megapixel main camera coupled with a 1.2-megapixel front shooter.
As for other features, the iPad Mini 5 is expected to have 3D Touch technology. Being the most popular feature of the newer-generation of iPhones, 3D Touch will likely be carried over to the iPad Mini 5 or Mini Pro. The device is also said to be water- and dust-resistant.
