Just Dance 2014: Everything We Know So Far

Just Dance 2014 Arriving for Xbox One, PlayStation 4: What We Know So Far

Ubisoft’s newest dance simulation title Just Dance 2014 is only the fifth game in the Just Dance series and is also set to be released as a launch title for both next generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

First announced officially at Ubisoft's E3 2013 press meet, the game is expected to meet the criteria related to Ubisoft’s most economically successful title franchises of all time.

On the game’s first official revelation, it was revealed that Just Dance 2014 will support up to six people all dancing together at the same time. While the game has pretty much remained unchanged throughout the years after its initial release in 2009, new features and uses of technology are expected when the game releases on next generation consoles to take advantage of the revamped Kinect Sensor and PS4 Eye.

As far as in-game features are concerned, the players’ primary goal is to mimic the on-screen counterpart as they continue through several pre-determined dance numbers. The different versions of dance challenges include the Classic free-dance mode, a brand new On-Stage Mode, and a Wii U and Xbox One exclusive Party Master Mode.

We're all aware what the Classic free-dance mode is, but the new On-Stage Mode needs a bit of simplifying. In this mode, one dancer gets to play the lead role while two other players go Federline and dance backup routines. Another mode also remains where players can dance with their own renditions on the screen from a previous session.

The Wii U and Xbox One exclusive Party Master Mode, on the other hand, is only a revamped form of the previous Puppet Master Mode featured in the Wii U version of Just Dance 4. Here, one player uses the Wii U GamePad or Xbox SmartGlass to change the game's rules, current song, and specific moves for up to four other players, alongside the regular dance mash-ups, alternate/extreme/sweat versions and battle modes.

A Just Dance DJ mode is also under development for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, and the aim here is to allow the players to control the beats themselves between songs. In the "Endless Party" mode, the player can use the DJ mode to move from one song to the next in a different way every time.

However, for all the consoles the game has released on or will be releasing, the World Dance Floor mode, a competitive online multiplayer mode, has been made available. All the players here will dance to the same playlist and compete for rankings on leaderboards.
