Rihanna, Beyonce Feud Updates: 'Work' Singer Denies Rift Over Grammy 2017 Nominations
There have been rumors of a feud brewing between two of the biggest female pop stars in Rihanna and Beyoncé. But Rihanna has doused water to the fire as she has denied starting a fight.
When the 2017 Grammy nominations were announced early this week, Rihanna was overlooked for Album of the Year. Beyoncé, Adele, Drake, Justin Bieber and country singer Sturgill Simpson meanwhile were shortlisted instead. Rihanna's hit 'Work' was nominated for Record of the Year but not for Song of the Year. Rihanna received a total of eight nominations while Beyonce had eight nominations including the top nominations in song, record and album of the year.
In what seems to be a diss to Beyoncé's accomplishment, Rihanna was seen liking a fan's post on Instagram. The post says that the Grammy Awards Committee, didn't want Rihanna to pass Beyoncé's feat of nine nominations and Rihanna liking the post suggest that she agrees with the assessment. But now Rihanna has claimed that she have not read the post and only noticed the picture.
"I never actually read your caption, thought the pic was funny and moved right along! I'm petty af [as fuck], yes. But this is just unnecessary" Rihanna commented on the post. She then says that people should drop the issue and focus on the bigger picture. She tells that there is no need in putting black women against each other. Instead, Rihanna asks fans to celebrate their accomplishments.
However this isn't the first time Beyoncé and Rihanna were involved in a fight. Back in 2014, Solange Knowles, sister of Beyoncé was seen on a security footage attacking Jay Z inside an elevator. It has been said that the cause of the attack was because of issues of Jay Z cheating on Beyoncé with Rihanna. Just recently, Beyoncé has banned her husband Jay Z from working with Rihanna.
This Grammy 2017 feud is the latest news in Beyoncé and Rihanna's history of feuds. But with Rihanna seemingly ending the issue, who knows if other issues will again come up. Both are successful musicians and are widely popular. But in the world of entertainment, celebrity feuds sells. Don't be surprised if the media will once again create rumors to put the two stars against each other.
