The "Chevrolet Cruze Diesel" wants to obtain a fuel economy rating of 50 mpg highway. While we don't yet know its EPA rating, we now know how much it will cost, and the answer is not much.
The "2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel" will start at $24,670 without any options, and with a six-speed manual transmission. If you want a nine-speed automatic, it'll set you back an extra $1,600 at $26,270.
There's only one trim level, and it's based on the gas-powered Cruze LT, which includes LED daytime running lights, a six-speaker audio system and satellite radio on a 7-inch touchscreen. The "Cruze Diesel" also includes the Convenience Package as standard, which adds keyless entry and start, heated front seats and a power driver's seat.
There are some packages available for the Cruze Diesel. The "Leather Package| adds $1,125, which, as you can imagine, adds leather seating into the mix. It puts some leather on the dashboard, as well. That'll bring the price up to $25,795 for a manual, or $27,395 for an automatic.
Automatic transmission owners can also add the "Sun, Sound and Confidence Package." This mamma jamma is a mix of two gas-powered Cruze packages. It adds a Bose nine-speaker audio system, an 8-inch touchscreen, a color screen between the gauges, interior ambient lighting and a power sunroof. You'll also pick up rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. A fully loaded Cruze Diesel comes in at $29,950.
Bear in mind, this is only for the "2017 Cruze Diesel Sedan." A hatchback is coming, but not until the 2018 model year and Chevrolet hasn't made that pricing information available yet. But no matter what Cruze Diesel sedan you opt for, it'll cost you less than $30,000 not counting destination, taxes and all that fun stuff.
