NBA Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins to the Mavericks? 'Boogie' calls Dallas one of the best franchises in the NBA

The Dallas Mavericks are one of the teams reportedly interested in trading for DeMarcus Cousins before the trade deadline. In a recent interview, Cousins praised the Mavericks organization which could be key for Dallas if they try to acquire him from the Sacramento Kings.

The 26-year-old center recently spoke with Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News to talk about his brother Jaleel, who plays for the Mavs' D-League affiliate. He revealed that his brother loves playing in Dallas while also praising the Mavericks organization.

"I think he loves it here. He's grateful for his opportunity so far. He's working hard. He's enjoying the process. He's enjoying gaining knowledge of the game," Cousins said.

"It's the Mavericks. It's one of the best franchises in the league. Cuban's a great guy. Rick's a great guy. He's under some good people. I'm confident in the franchise, and I'm confident in his abilities, as well. I think it's a good situation for him," he added.

"Boogie" also feels flattered for being linked with the Mavericks. However, he reiterated that he loves playing for the Sacramento Kings. Nevertheless, the trade deadline is an interesting time for Cousins since there is a legitimate chance of him being dealt.

According to Isaac Harris of the Smoking Cuban, the Mavericks have an asset to give in a possible DeMarcus Cousins deal. It is their 2017 first round pick that could easily be the first overall pick since the Mavs are 4-17, which is the worst in the league.

On the other hand, the Kings are currently improving their record but they are still outside the playoff picture. Cousins is playing like an All-Star once again but his off-court issues might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Cousins and teammate Matt Barnes was recently sued for assault and battery, per Yahoo! Sports. The two Kings stars were reportedly involved in a fight at a New York City nightclub during the team's game against the Knicks on Monday.
