‘The Vampire Diaires' Season 8 Christmas Special Spoilers: Stefan Dies, Trouble for Caroline & Sybil

Trouble arises in the Christmas special of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, when Damon and Sybil decides to ambush Caroline and Stefan's Christmas gathering. Stefan also dies in the midseason finale, in the hands of his brother Damon.

It is no ordinary Christmas celebration for the Salvatore brothers in the midseason finale of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, which also happens to be the Christmas special. What starts as a happy Christmas Eve dinner quickly disintegrates with the arrival of Damon and Sybil.

The trailer for the Christmas special episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 shows Damon and Sybil arrive uninvited. Caroline has a look of disbelief on her face when she sees Sybil. The other guests, Matt, Alaric and Peter are also surprised by the sudden turn of events.

The Christmas Eve dinner, which Stefan promises Caroline will go smoothly, eventually turned dark and deadly. Damon kills Stefan in the kitchen. Caroline sees her beloved lying helpless on the floor and attempts to kill Damon. Instead, Damon almost chokes her to death.

Later, Caroline goes back to her guests in a rather cheery mood and announces that Stefan is dead. It is unclear if the midseason finale of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will really be the end of Stefan. Caroline did not seem too bothered by his death.

However, Candice King (Caroline) hinted to Stefan's likely death in an interview with TV Guide about what to expect in the Christmas special of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. She said that the midseason finale will be the last time fans see Steroline. She also hinted that Damon kills Stefan and Caroline will have no choice but to get her revenge.

So although she hates him and what he's done, she still cares enough to - you know, she hasn't killed him yet! But we definitely will see moments of Caroline and Damon in this episode where she has to come to a realization of how does she feel about him," Candice King said.
