UFC 207 Latest News & Update: Ronda Rousey Sick Of Playing Media Circus, Keeps Focus On Amanda Nunes

Ronda Rousey made headlines recently though it wasn’t the traditional friendly exchange. Rather, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion avoided talking to media when she appeared at the UFC 205 weigh-ins.

Ronda Rousey is set to face current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 for the bantamweight title, more than a year after her loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. She has since stayed away from the UFC scene, focusing on her acting career which hardly gained any ground.

Since word of her return spread, rumors were circulating that Ronda Rousey could be retiring soon. Nothing has been made official and the recent tantrum could be a sign of things to come.

UFC president Dana White expectedly came to the defense of Rousey, using the angle of no interview was ever promised in the first place. Just the same, most were wise to White’s tactic, believing something was irking the former UFC champion.

As it turned out, the real beef Ronda Rousey had with the media was revealed. She appeared on the Conan O’Brien show to shed more light on the matter.

According to Rousey, there was no need for her to hype up her match against Nunes. Since her defeat last year, the UFC Women’s division has improved by leaps and bounds. Proof of that is the frequent change in titles the past year, Yahoo Sports reported.

“I’ve done a lot of learning in this last year, and I have learned that the views I get or the money I make really doesn’t mean anything for me or my happiness. Now that I know the women’s division is secure, I don’t have to do that anymore. I choose not to,” Rousey said.

In essence, Ronda Rousey wants to stay focused on the task at hand and avoid the media circus. She is in the best position to know how it may have helped (or not) in the past, possibly bad news for Amanda Nunes, TMZ reported. Will it be enough for her to reclaim the title she lost at UFC 193?
