The 'X Factor' 2016 News & Updates: One Direction's Louis Tomlinson Fights Back Tears As Simon Cowell Did This To Him!

Then One Direction star Louis Tomlinson's mum died earlier this week, at just 43 after a short battle with leukemia, it was assumed the singer would pull out of his scheduled live performance at the X Factor final. It was supposed to be his big moment, performing his debut solo single (with DJ Steve Aoki) on stage at Wembley, as part of the very show that catapulted him to fame six years ago - but surely he couldn't possibly go through with it?

Not so. Louis was determined to go ahead with his performance of "Just Hold On" because it was what his mum, Johannah Deakin, wanted. Louis handled it brilliantly, only welling up when Simon Cowell gave a moving speech afterwards. "What you've just done... the bravery... I respect you as an artist and I respect you as a person," Simon said. "Your mum was so proud of you, Louis, she was so looking forward to tonight, she's watching down on you now and you've done her proud."

It's reported that the song was penned about Johannah. The lyrics included the poignant lines: "It's not over till the sun has set, It's not over till your dying breath' are believed to be about his mother's fight with the disease." Louis was supported in the audience at Wembley Arena by his relatives and thousands of fans. Following his performance, the star was given a standing ovation. His ex girlfriend Briana Jungwirth, the mother of Louis' 11-month-old son Freddie, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message.

"I promise to share with him all of what I know of you including your beautiful attributes. We both loved you very much. You'll always stay close forever in our hearts." We wish him all the very best for his life. For more news on the same, stay updated on Gamenguide.com.
