EA Canada Teases New Open-World Star Wars Game Via Job Post, Then Removes Title: Find All the Details Here

Details Point to EA Canada Developing An Open-World Star Wars Game

A new open-world Star Wars game could be on the cards after it was recently revealed that EA Canada is working on a Star Wars title.

An EA job listing spotted by Kotaku was put out last month seeking an animation director. The ad originally stated that the team is working on “a major new next gen open world action game” citing the Star Wars franchise specifically. However, it seems EA has since removed that portion.

“EA Canada is looking for an experienced Animation director to help define and deliver on the vision for a major new next gen action game,” the post states. “You will oversee the development of animation, and work closely with the Creative Director, Game Director & Combat Designer to establish and realize the vision of the game. You will also lead and mentor the lead animators, grow internal talent and review the work of the animation team to ensure highest quality.”

If that’s not enough to fill you up on a real Star Wars game that’s actually arriving, the plans for the game recently received a boost after a former recruiter for EA Canada tweeted a link to the Combat Designer job post, citing specifically that the position was for a Star Wars project.

Kotaku explains the situation perfectly by stating: “The EA Canada Star Wars game may be the same as the one in production at Visceral Games. The copy on the animation director posting says EA Canada wants someone who has experience with ‘multi-site development’.”

“And another EA Canada Star Wars opening—for an executive producer—is a near-exact copy of another Star Wars executive producer posting at Redwood Shores, save for a few words about the studio's location.”

Now while we are not in any position to certify anything with utmost surety at this point, but it needs to be said that although Star Wars games of the past from EA and other publishers have moved around and experimented with a number of genres, an open-world game for the same has not been put into consideration.

And although fans might argue that the last big MMO title for the same, Star Wars: The Old Republic, had bits and parts of open-world aspects to it, but the franchise has never seen an open-world title in its truest sense.

However, an open-world Star Wars game seemed like it was indeed on the cards after it was revealed back in February that Star Wars 1313 was originally supposed to be an open-world role-playing game.
