Xbox One News: Forza Motorsport 5 is the Console's Top Selling Exclusive

Forza Motorsport 5 is the Xbox One's Best Selling Exclusive, But Still Can't Come Close to Call of Duty: Ghosts or Battlefield 4 Sales

We're starting to get an idea of how Sony and Microsoft's new consoles are selling comparatively, but what about the games? Well, according to VGChartz, it looks like gamers are all about shooters.

Matching with earlier per-order reports, it seems that Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 are THE next-gen games to play. No big surprise there, as we learned just last week that Ghosts is the most played multiplayer game in the world. VGChartz reports, "Like with the PlayStation 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts had the biggest opening with 755,462 units sold. That puts the attach rate at 63.7 percent Battlefield 4 sold 436,069 units."

But no one buys a Xbox One for a game you could just as easily play on the PlayStation 4, or vice versa. What about the exclusives?

VGChartz has those numbers too, and for the Xbox One, it's all about Turn 10's racer, Forza Motorsport 5, which comes in as the third top-selling game after the shooters. "Forza Motorsport 5 was the bestselling exclusive game at launch, with sales of 423,317." Other exclusives followed with Dead Rising 3 at sixth place with over 282,000 sales, and Ryse: Son of Rome right behind it with 281,660 sales.

Over 3.2 million games were sold for the Xbox One in all in the U.S. in the console's first two days of availability. You can see the complete chart below:

1. Call of Duty: Ghosts - 755,462
2. Battlefield 4 - 436,069
3. Forza Motorsport 5 - 355,148
4. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - 331,032
5. FIFA Soccer 14 - 304,445
6. Dead Rising 3 - 282,877
7. Ryse: Son of Rome - 281,660
8. Madden NFL 25 - 107,560
9. Need for Speed Rivals - 97,212
10. NBA 2K14 - 83,514
11. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - 41,693
12. Just Dance 2014 - 29,661
13. Skylanders SWAP Force - 23,347
14. NBA Live 14 - 21,276
15. Zoo Tycoon (2013) - 20,650

Microsoft outperformed Sony at both Target and Walmart on Black Friday. InfoScout reports that Microsoft's Xbox One and 360 accounted for 61 percent of all console purchases at the two retailers, with 31 earned by the Xbox One alone. Comparatively, the PS3 and PS4 scored at 15 percent, with the Wii U and Wii trailing at 6 and 1 percent respectively.

Microsoft has yet to reveal any official numbers since announcing the Xbox One's day one sales of over a million, but with Cyber Monday having just happened, and most of us still yet to finish our Christmas shopping, expect the number of sales for both console to keep climbing.

The Xbox One claims an 8-core x86 processor and Microsoft hopes it will take the place of the family room cable box by letting you watch Blu-ray movies and TV through the console, in a "seamless transition" that lets players switch from playing games to watching shows and/or movies. It will come fully loaded with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.

The console's exclusives include Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Ryse: Son of Rome, and more. You can check out a list of the install sizes for all of the launch games here. The Xbox One retails for $499, and is currently available worldwide.
