Game of Thrones Video Game set for 2014 release [VIDEO]

Game of Thrones videogame coming in 2014 from Telltale Games

If you can’t get enough of the popular TV series "Game of Thrones" out of you system, get ready for a videogame rendition for the same. According to reports, Telltale Games revealed at the recently held Spike VGX Awards that the company is working on a Game of Thrones game that will arrive in 2014.

Nothing much was revealed about the game, though, apart from a short 34-second teaser for the same (see below) that only announces the release of the title. Apparently, the game is being made in collaboration with HBO, and is set to be an episodic video game series.

"We'll be taking advantage of all the fiction to make something great," Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games, stated, as scripted by Zap2it. "We're just really getting into it right now and thinking about characters -- who has the most at stake, who has the biggest impact on the world."

Based on the popular HBO fantasy drama series of the same name that was previously adapted from author George R.R. Martin’s "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of novels, this is not first time that we've heard of a Game of Thrones-inspired videogame from Telltale.

Back in November, IGN reported a number of sources close to the project that Telltale Games was developing a game based on George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones.

When IGN later reached out to Telltale to verify the matter, Steve Allison, SVP of Publishing pushed out a statement saying: “We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment.”

Telltale, IGN fittingly described at that time, “has a long history of licensed properties, ranging from Jurassic Park to Back to the Future and, more recently, The Walking Dead and Fables. In October, Telltale CEO Dan Connors said that Telltale 'can’t wait' to announce its upcoming projects,” while also noting that it’s working on licenses on other upcoming titles.

At that time, apart from the newly confirmed Game of Thrones game, Telltale was also working on the second episode of The Wolf Among Us as well as a follow-up season to The Walking Dead.

There was also Game of Thrones RPG from Cyanide games, as well as a RTS, but neither game quite took off. Let's hope third time really is the charm.

As mentioned earlier, Telltale's Game of Thrones is currently in development and slated for release sometime in 2014. Check out the teaser trailer for the game below.
