'Pokemon GO' News & Update: Niantic Labs Revealed 'Big Announcement' Today; New Pokemon and Christmas Pikachu have Arrived!

"Pokemon GO" is expected to drop some big announcement on Dec. 12. It was not specified what Niantic Labs is planning to reveal but it was said it is something that will deflect the cold weather and ward off boredom with the game.

Moreover, some say big holiday gifts are on the way for players and everyone can expect them by Monday. However, there is really no update about anything related to the supposed announcement so "Pokemon GO" players just keep guessing what it could be.

Some of the most common speculations are that the "Pokemon GO" announcement will be about the all-new Pokemon and this will be officially introduced. Others think that Gen 2 will finally be launched or some legendary monsters are coming to the game.

Likewise, the majority of "Pokemon GO" trainers assume that the announcement is about the addition of Mew, Mewtwo, Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno to the game. Further, because it is the holidays, Niantic must be cooking up a special Christmas event for players.

In any case, trainers must stop guessing now because the ‘big announcement' was just unveiled, as promised! "Pokémon GO" is adding a new batch of Pokémon characters today. Additionally, a limited edition game is arriving and trainers may spot the holiday-themed Pikachu in the game.

Based on the video that was just released by Niantic, the new pocket monsters that are available now are Togepi, Pichu, and some Pokémon that first appeared in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Trainers can only have these monsters by hatching eggs that can be found in PokéStops.

In the press release, it was stated, "Trainers have the chance to find these Pokémon by visiting and spinning PokéStops to acquire Eggs. These Eggs might hatch a Togepi, Pichu or select other Pokémon."

It was added that from Dec. 12 to 11 a.m. of Dec. 29, trainers around the world will be able to see the special edition Pikachu. These monsters will be seen wearing a festive hat in celebration of the holiday season.

Meanwhile, Sprint and Starbucks outlets were recently turned into Poker stops and Gyms after Niantic struck a deal with the two major American companies. Game & Guide reported that over 10,500 Sprint outlets are now open to all trainers.
