"Pokemon Go," the first-ever augmented-reality game to hit mobile phones have completely changed mobile games since it was launched in July 2016. The game concept have enticed fans to create own augmented-reality game versions, one of which is "Harry Potter Go."

Among all the possible augmented-reality games patterned after "Pokemon Go," "Harry Potter Go" seems to be the most popular. Understandably, the "Harry Potter" franchise is hugely popular in its own right, with hit movies and books tucked under its belt.

With that in mind, "Harry Potter Go" will definitely be a hit among gamers, if only Niantic or any other game developer would decide to push through with the project. Will "Harry Potter Go" be available by 2017? Read on to find out!

According to reports, Niantic is the top bidder to earn the rights for "Harry Potter Go." This is totally understandable considering that Niantic was the first game developer to harness the technology of augmented-reality and integrate it in "Pokemon Go."

However, there are reportedly other major game developers bidding for the rights of "Harry Potter Go" as well. Aside from Niantic, Sony, EA Games and Supercell are reportedly making their own proposal to earn the license to develop "Harry Potter Go."

As of writing, J.K. Rowling has yet to make an official statement about the "Harry Potter Go" issue. Hopefully, discussions and negotiations will commence by 2017 so that "Harry Potter Go" will be given a green light.
