Samsung Galaxy S8, Note 8, Release Date, Latest News & Update: Dual Screen Display Rumored; A Foldable Smartphone?

Samsung's next flagship device the Galaxy S8 has already been believed to have a bezel-less, pressure sensitive display. However, a new report about the upcoming smartphone indicates that the Korean tech giant might be working on two new flexible display smartphones which might be entirely different from each other.

The foldable display is something Samsung has had in the works for a long time. It released the Galaxy Round curved smartphone in 2013 and the Galaxy Note Edge with an edge screen in 2014. This is certainly not the first time Samsung Electronics would try out with different kind of displays, according to International Business Times.

Samsung's Two-Track Strategy On Its Next Flagship Devices

According to reports, the company is working on a "two-track" strategy for its next flagships Galaxy S8 and Note 8 in 2017 at the Mobile world Congress. The company is developing "dual-screen" smartphone that uses flat display on each side and foldable smartphone that bends single flexible OLED screen. It is predicted that Samsung Electronics is going to study feedback from markets after releasing its dual-screen smartphone first and introduce its foldable smartphone after showing consumers how to use them.

The dual-screen smartphone that Samsung Electronics is preparing is comparable to a product that of JDI Japan Display Inc. introduced recently. This type of smartphone does not bend a panel itself but has a hinge in the middle and has flat display on each side. Since it does not have separate display when it is folded, it is more like a tablet rather than a smartphone, writes Korea's ET News.

Samsung's Ambitious Dual-Screen Smartphone

The foldable smartphones that Samsung Electronics is going to release after its dual-screen smartphone is a product with innovated hardware that Samsung is preparing ambitiously. Because its panel itself can be bent, it can be truly called a foldable smartphone. A product that is being developed will be an "out-foldable" smartphone that is bent outwardly.
