iPhone 6s Battery Shutdown Issue Leaves South Korea Considering Investigation

iPhone 6s Battery Shutdown Issue: The South Korean agency called Korean Agency for Technology and Standards is considering to have an investigation regarding the battery shutdown incidences in some of the iPhone 6s devices.

As mentioned on Macrumors, the agency only wants to make sure that the issue is not similar with the scandal happened to Samsung's Galaxy Note 7. There has been several issues regarding the battery problem glitch on some iPhone 6s units, though no reported explosions or catching fire incidents have happened.

The Galaxy Note 7 issue became a worldwide news as random units of the said device caught fire and start smoking, which resulted to a recollection of the majority of Note 7 in from different countries.

But what led to the investigation regarding the iPhone 6s units? Last November, Apple launched a repair program for iPhone 6s devices that are experiencing random shutdowns due to certain battery issues. The tech giant admits that "a very small number of iPhone 6s devices" made between September and October 2015 might have been affected. But no worries, since it was not actually a safety issue, but merely a minor problem.

But how did such problem happened? Especially for the biggest phone manufacturer in the world? According to Apple, the shutdowns were a result of a manufacturing error. Some of the batteries were overexposed to controlled ambient air, in which the batteries degrade faster than normal.

With this, Apple's repair service will allow you to have a battery replacement for free. The repair program from Apple lets you check if your iPhone 6s is eligible for the battery change if it detects that your serial number belongs to the list of the products manufactured between September and October 2015.

The good news is, despite the South Korean agency considering investigation, it hasn't been decided yet, and by any chance it pushes through, it's as if Apple doesn't care at all.
