Amazon Lets You Profit from Buying Aliens: Colonial Marines

Step 1 - Buy Aliens: Colonial Marines from Amazon. Step 2 - ? Step 3 - Profit!

Credit to GamesZone for finding this one. One of the worst reviewed games released this year and victim of its own hype, Aliens: Colonial Marines, is finally redeeming itself. Kind of.

The digital PC version of Gearbox's thoroughly unpleasant xenomorphic FPS is currently going for $1.99, a price that most games won't bottom out to in five years. Colonial Marines hit that price in less than a year. Given the all around awfulness of the game, why would anyone bother to get the game, even at such a low price?

Because if you buy it, you'll get $3 for free. Why? Amazon has a deal going on for the Holidays - "Purchase anything from the Digital Games Store from November 21 - December 31 and get a $5 promotional credit to spend on our 2013 Editor's Choice Games. Promotional credit emails will be sent out on or shortly after January 3, 2014."

Still, if you'd rather not sully your PC with such a game, there are other games that can earn the same bonus:
- Fallout 3 at $4.99
- Fallout: New Vegas at $4.99
- Spectromancer at $1.99
- Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection at $4.99
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire DLC at $3.34
- Final Fantasy VII at $4.03
- Home: A Unique Horror Adventure at $0.99
- The Walking Dead: 400 Days at $2.49

There's even a couple of free to download packs that advertise this specific promotion: Saints Row IV Thank You Pack, demo for Painkiller: Resurrection, Warframe, The Lord of the Rings Online, The Tomorrow War demo, and quite a few more.

But what to spend it on? Well, that's a bit harder to say, as Amazon's list of best games of the year "will be determined in the coming weeks." Still, there's some great deals on some great games, and the free downloads work like a nice coupon anyway.

There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the release of Colonial Marines, but then the game came out, the reviews came in, and the buck passing began. For a trip down one horiffic memory lane and a recap on just what happened with the game, check this out.
