After the recently released of Watch OS 3.1.1, Apple had temporarily pulled out the update after receiving several complaints regarding the failed performance. It has been reported that Watch OS 3.1.1 bricked some Apple Watch Series 2 devices.
Watch OS 3.1.1 was noted as the most recent update of Apple Watch and many Apple users expected that it will serve them better. However, some Apple Watch Series 2 users complained that after they installed the update, their device got bricked.
A red exclamation mark on the screen was seen and instructed to restart the Apple Watch device. In doing this, the users must hold the side button and Digital Crown at the same time. If the instruction didn't help to solve the issue, repairing the Apple Watch is the second option. It's a little bit hassle for the user as many of them found it useless but there are no other options except these two steps.
Watch OS 3.1.1 offers support for Unicode 9.0 emoji in June 2016 that includes new smileys, animals, sports, profession, food items and more. It also offers performance improvements, bug fixes, battery life issues and more. It is compatible with all Apple Watch devices.
Apple hasn't released any statements on why the Watch OS 3.1.1 failed to perform on Apple Watch devices. The company has removed the update from its servers and security updates list and there's no further announcement on when they will release the Watch OS 3.1.1 again.
On the other hand, there are also Apple Watch Series 2 owners who successfully installed the Watch OS 3.1.1 without any issues. But for some who doesn't want to experience the bricked Apple Watch issue, it is better to stay with Watch OS 3.1 or below for the meantime.
