Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix Discussed: Dev Says Game in Progress Alongside KH3

Square Enix’s upcoming action RPG title Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, which is the HD remastered collection of the Kingdom Hearts series, is back in news with more new details coming out for the game, alongside a new revelation that the game is under development along with the Kingdom Hearts 3.

Square Enix director Tetsuya Nomura recently spoke to Famitsu about the new collection that’s planned for the coming year alongside a number of features that were also revealed via the new interview.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, as revealed via the new report, is being handled by the same team at Osaka who were responsible for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. However, since the HD system has already been established for the collection, things are advancing more smoothly than Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix.

And although the company has a specific release date in mind for the same, it’s still not in a stage where the company can announce it.

While revealing that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix will feature “battle scenes and new scenarios as well—but just a little bit,” it was also stated that there will be scenes from Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded that will be “tied to Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.”

He further added: “Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded is not as long as Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, and because we’re making many main story assets from the start, we’re taking down the events of Disney Worlds in new representations. Speaking of which, we’re also adding new voices, and last week we compiled the voices for Wonderland.”

Nomura also revealed that although there was a lot of excitement for Kingdom Hearts 3 when a trailer was showcased in October which was great, but “from a development perspective it’s still not enough.”

Speaking further about Kingdom Hearts 3, Nomura revealed that the game will feature a certain “Attraction Flow” skill that “compliments settings and enemies will be an especially unique technique in boss fights. We’ve advanced the Free Flow of Kingdom Hearts 3D, and this will be one axis in Kingdom Hearts III.”

As of now, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix is set to release exclusively for PS3.
