Real Madrid News & Updates: Cristiano Ronaldo Thinks He Would Win More Ballon d’Ors If Lionel Messi Was His Teammate

Fresh from winning his fourth Ballon d'Or award, Cristiano Ronaldo gives his opinion in France Football magazine about his Barcelona rival had the two of them played in the same team together.

Despite trailing one award away from Lionel Messi's total of five Ballon d'Ors, the Real Madrid star is confident that he'd win even more if they had been in the same team. Cristiano Ronaldo goes on to say "It would be interesting to see both of us in the same team. I think great players should play together. So if we were in the same team, I think I would have more than him, but he wouldn't be far off." He later added "Everyone knows Messi is a great player. He's won five Ballon d'Ors."

If these two football greats did play together in the same team, that would make award judging even more difficult for sure. If Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are in the same team and keep winning the same games and same competitions for the club, results from the country might be the tie-breaker here. But it's very unlikely that the two of them will have the chance of playing in the same team ever, as Ronaldo has stated he would like to retire at Real Madrid and Messi has declared he'd like to return back to Newell's Old Boys once his time with Barcelona is over.

When asked if he has any plans overtaking Lionel Messi and become the most decorated player in Ballon d'Or history, Cristiano Ronaldo admitted yes and said "I'm going to try. I'll be in the fight, as always."

The two will face off once again in FIFA's Best Player Award in January 9. Given his achievements for this year with Real Madrid winning Champions League and Portugal's win at European Championships, Cristiano Ronaldo is still poised as the favorite to win the new award.
