The Witcher Adventure Game: A Board Game Spin-off From Fantasy Flight Games [TRAILER]

Fantasy Flight Games Takes on The Witcher [TRAILER]

CD Projekt Red and Fantasy Flight Games have just announced The Witcher Adventure Game, a brand new board game based on the popular Witcher franchise. This spin-off comes with all the little plastic miniatures, custom dice, cards and chits that you'd expect from the celebrated publisher, over 350 little pieces to fiddle with in all! It may look complex but it will offer a game that combines strategy with an ever-changing narrative that puts the emphasis on story. And it sounds awesome

Coming from designer Ignacy Trzewiczek (Stronghold, 51st State) and true to the novel that inspired the game, the game will offer four playable characters; Geralt of Rivia, the title character; Dandelion, a smart-ass bard; Triss Marigold, a powerful sorceress; and Yarpen Zigrin, a fierce dwarven warrior. No matter who you'll pick you'll hunt monsters and earn gold for your kills. It is a Witcher game, after all- that's what they do. But a major portion of the game will focus on the quest cards you acquire that allow for a different story every game. You'll get all sorts of random quests ranging from monster hunts to exposing a traitor in the royal court. All the people you meet in the game will be characters from the Witcher universe and of course the game is promised to come with the usual high quality we've come to expect in Fantasy Flight products.

Check out the trailer below for a taste of what to expect.

"We are very pleased to partner with CD Projekt RED on The Witcher Adventure Game, said Steve Horvath, Senior VP of Communication and Digital Business for Fantasy Flight Games. "The story and the setting of The Witcher really lends itself to an adventure board game. We're looking forward to players being able to craft their own narrative during the course of the game."

But wait- there's more. Not content with just putting out amazing board games like Arkham Horror, Battlestar Galactica and the Star Wars Living Card Game, Fantasy Flight Games has dipped its toe into the world of mobile gaming. Their most notable (and successful) release is Elder Scrolls: Omens, an incredible rendition of their Lovecraftian dice-based game Elder Scrolls. Along with the announcement of The Witcher Adventure Game comes the news that a mobile version will be coming to both iOS and Android-based tablets. There's no details just yet, just a mere banner on the official site

So that's right, folks, we're not just getting one The Witcher videogame this year, we're getting two, plus one epic board game. You can preorder The Witcher Adventure Game right here- expect it to hit sometime soon this year. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt doesn't have a set release date besides 2014 yet either but we're anticpating it more than most any game this year, as should you all.
