[WATCH] Lamar Odom Says He Wasn't In Good Place Mentally When He Slipped Into Coma For Drug Overdose In 2015

Former National Basketball Star Laker Lamar Odom admitted in an interview that at the time he was found unconscious inside a brothel room in Las Vegas more than a year has passed, he was not in a good place mentally. Odom, after his discharge from hospital, refused to talk about his drug addiction.

Before he checked into a rehabilitation center however, the 37-year-old former Forward player for Lakers sat down for confessional interview with The Doctors, and spoke about what drove him to drug overdose in October 2015. He said that before the fateful incident, he and his former wife, Khloe Kardashian, were having a hard time.

"I was in a dark place," the six-footer confessed as captured on the video. "So I guess they say everything happens for a reason," the former professional basketball player continued to say and and added that upon waking up in a hospital, he was not aware that he slipped into a coma, until Khloe briefed him that he almost died.

In the interview, he narrated that while he was still recuperating in a hospital, he was unable to utter a word when he wanted to speak. Nothing came out from his mouth and that scared him. The video released on the web site was only a sneak peak of Lamar Odom's confession. The rest of the video will be aired as soon as Odom has completed his therapy, according to the site.

Lamar hit the news when the divorce decree, severing his marriage ties with Khloe Kardashain, was released. Days after the report, Lamar decided to submit himself to a rehabilitation facility to work on his mental and physical health. His decision also came 14 months after the Las Vegas overdose incident.

Odom's professional basketball career began in 1999 for Los Angeles Clippers. Two years later, he was issued with a five-day suspension order for having violated the drug policy of the National Basketball Association. After his suspension, he confessed to having smoked marijuana.
