Apple recently released its latest update iOS 10.2. However, the update disappoints users because instead of fixes it brought something else unexpected.
Just three months after introducing iOS 10, Apple again introduces iOS 10.2 and is currently on its fifth update. Technically, the latest is the sixth update, if we count the iOS 10.0.1 that Apple hastily fastened into the original release. While iOS 10.2 does enclose an exciting surprise, it does not also include critical fixes many users long for and instead brings something else you might not have been imagining.
Apple iOS 10.2 Worsening the 30 Percent Bug
30 percent bug is iPhones' problem causing numerous models to shut down as soon as the battery level reaches 30 percent. The good news to victims of the 30 percent Bug is that the tech giant has assured to address it and said it would release a software update in the coming week. This would track the battery usage on iPhones to solve the problem.
However, it turns out the tracking software is patched into iOS 10.2 which was not mentioned in the release notes. Apple exclusively confirmed the incorporation of the telemetry tool with iOS 10.2 to Forbes and further stated that it is installed on each compatible device, irrespective of whether they are affected by the bug.
This acknowledgment from Apple is good news for several users, however, there is no transparency. Users would have anticipated the tool to be its own isolated update and most users do not need new forms of tracing software on their phones whether for professional need or personal preference. Specifically, when no details were officially revealed as to exactly how it tracks, how long the data will be kept, and if it is anonymous. Apple's intention about this is surely well-meant, but it is always a good manner to ask first, at the very least, include the tracker on the release notes.
Apple iOS 10.2 EarPods Stays Broken
This is another hot topic in Apple Support Communities. From 11 pages, this thread has increased to 24 pages. This is about the microphone from Apple EarPods acting up during calls because of a software glitch. Temporarily, ending and restarting the call corrects this, even a full Factory Reset has not resolved this issue. As of this time, Apple Support has only advised restarting affected devices for now because again, this was not included in the Apple 10.2 update.
Apple iOS 10.2's interesting features like 100 new emoji, and TV, among others. It still looks as though a number of more important issues will have to wait to be addressed upon the arrival of iOS 10.2.1.
