iOS issues related to spam calendar invites have reportedly been increasing, prompting Apple to launch a new feature that will fight the said spam. The new iOS feature can be found on the iCloud's online calendar, and also allows the users to report the junk invites.
The iOS issues were immediately addressed by Apple following Black Friday event, which saw an increase in the use of the spam vector. The tech giant later announced that the company is actively working to fix the iOS issue by determining and blocking suspicious senders as well as spam in the invites being sent.
Reports indicate that the easiest fix for the said iOS issue was to have the iCloud servers begin to identify the spam, and keep it server-side, which means there was no need to launch any changes. However, catching the spam would also require the servers to have the spam messages.
That said, the "report junk" button becomes useful. The said feature reportedly allows the user to have a clear option in dismissing the spam message and allows spam messages, on the other hand, to be recognized across the iCloud ecosystem. Although the said button is expected to be used by users who rely on Apple's cloud, the real impact comes when the iOS users are able to mark the spam when it get to the device, according to report.
Meanwhile, iOS 10.2 has been released for iPad, iPad touch and iPhone, bringing a number of features and bug fixes for issues caused by the previous update.
