Little Mac from Punch-Out!! Joins Super Smash Bros for Wii U, 3DS

Super Smash Bros. Gets Little Mac

Big news for Super Smash Bros. fans! While we've already received confirmation that old characters like King DeDeDe, Zelda and Sonic are returning to Super Smash Bros.,  we now have word that Little Mac will be entering the ring!

The hero from the Punch-Out!! series may be tiny but he packs a punch. Don't forget that this guy went toe to toe with Mike Tyson and came out the victor- for a handful of players, at least. And it's certainly the next best thing to a new Punch-Out!! game that we're likely to get for a while. This news came down from today's Nintendo Direct conference, which focused on upcoming Wii U and 3DS games. This was clearly the biggest announcement of the whole thing, although if you like you can see the entire 42-minute video at the Nintendo site. Little Mac's announcement is right at the beginning of the video at least, with a great bit involving Samus making fun of his diminuative size before getting knocked out of the ring. We'll see if his coach throws out nonstop advice for him, cause that could get annoying.

Super Smash Bros. will launch in stores and the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS sometime later this year, but don't expect cross-play. Both platforms will have different features and trophies
