In the latest news straight from Resolutiongate, Konami has just confirmed the stats for all versions of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and it's familiar (if sad) news for Xbox owners. While the PS4 version of the game will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second the Xbox One version will run at 720p and 60fps. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will run at 720p and 30fps as well, albeit with upscaled graphics.
This isn't the first time that Xbox One users have gotten the short stick when it comes to resolution. It's one thing for exclusives like Dead Rising 3 to run in 720p but when cross-platform titles like Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts both run in 720p on the One when PS4 is getting the full 1080p resolution the issue becomes much greater. After all, how do you justify picking a more expensive console when it apparently can't run games at full resolution? Things like this are certainly contributing to the fact that the PS4 is currently outselling the Xbox One nearly 2 to 1.
If you head over to Konami's site you can compare current-gen and next-gen versions. Later on they will release a comparison video but for now there's plenty of high-res screenshots. While there's no direct PS4 Vs Xbox One comparisons, It's still amusing that they have to point out tiny details to show that the next-gen versions really do look better, though. Of course, improved resolution and lighting and textures is always a great thing, and things are only going to get better and better, but to the layperson this next generation maybe the smallest leap in graphics of any console generation in recent memory. But still- stats matter, and gamers who want to pick up Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and have a choice of two platforms will obviously go with the better one.
