Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark Announced [TRAILER]

Activison has today announced Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, the latest in the popular game series based on the transforming Hasbro toys. The big difference this time is that while it's a direct follow-up to Activision's War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games, it's also a follow-up to Michael Bay's upcoming fourth "Transformers" film. You'll be able to control 40 playable characters from both universes over the course of the game.

"Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is an arc between the Cybertron and Earth based worlds of this popular franchise," remarked Mark Blecher, SVP Digital Gaming & Corporate Development at Hasbro, Inc. "This year marks 30 incredible years of TRANSFORMERS. This game tells another chapter in the TRANSFORMERS story that all fans will love."

In the single-player campaign you'll be able to switch viewpoints from the Autobots to the Decepticons and it will play very similarly to the last two of High Moon Studios' Cybertron games. Expect large open battlefields and fast third-person action as you switch quickly swap back back and forth from vehicle forms. Multiplayer will see the return of fan favorite mode Escalation, which plays a lot like Horde mode from the Gears of War series. It allows four players to team up and fight against waves and waves of enemies and this version of the mode includes new upgradeable defenses, as well as new characters and enemies from the Tranformers "lore". There's also a new leveling system in place that allows you to continue to develop your character across both single and multiplayer modes, unlocking new characters, weapons, abilities and bonuses for both.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark  will hit Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U, PC and 3DS sometime this June. Check out the announcement trailer below!
