Minecraft 360 Update 14 Adds Trading and Anvils

Next Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Update Adds Trading, Anvils, Food

The console editions of Minecraft are lagging behind what the PC one offers, understandably. When you can simply update a game at your whim to try out new features you just do so, but when you have to go through Microsoft and Sony you generally have to wait until it's a big, special update. Such is the case with Title Update 14 (TU14) for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, which will cram in a ton of new features that console gamers have been clamoring for.

The biggest new feature by far is Trading, which lets you do exactly that. Once it's in place you'll be able to interact with villagers and trade with them for various items related to their professions. You can get wool from the shepard and food from the farmer, for example. This also opens up a new kind of block to mine- emeralds- which is used as currency. New food options will appear thanks to this, including baked potatoes and pumpkin pies.

The other big feature is the inclusion of Anvils, which will allow you to not only repair items but to combine enchantments with enchanted books.

Developer 4J Studios has promised to show off some screens from this title update later this week so you can see how it looks on consoles. In a tweet from earlier today they announce "TU14 is going fine! We'll post shots later this week of the revised Creative interface, and the new Trading & Anvil interfaces."

While Mojang has been busy protecting their gigantic brand by taking down Kickstarter films using their IP without permission, they've managed to selll 35 million copies of the game across all platforms. With this update XBox 360 gamers wll have even more reasons to keep playing on and on.

PS3 gamers will have to wait a little longer to have these features but then again, they only just got the game. Don't forget that Minecraft is also headed to the PS4 and Vita in the upcoming months. This is Minecraft's world, we just live in it.
