Towerfall Ascension PS4 Release Date Announced: Former Ouya Exclusive Returning With Enhanced 4-Player Multiplayer Madness

Towerfall Ascension PS4 Release Date Announced

Sony has just announced a release date for Towerfall Acension, the upcoming 4-player party game for the PS4. Towerfall was originally an Ouya exclusive that was one of the few titles that did well on the system, and rightfully so. The four-player multiplayer is simply tons of fun, tailor-made for creating enemies out of former friends and all kinds of glorious arguments. You'll find out yourself when it hits North America on March 11th, with Europe following up at a later date.

In Towerfall, you choose from a numer of characters and grab your bow and arrow- that's right, this is archery combat You have a limited amount of arrows but you can catch other player's, as well as pick up missed shots from around the arena. There are various power-ups that can give you powers like flight, shields, and stronger arrows. It's got an old-school platformer feel and is just a perfect party game, a blast playing against three other friends. This new version of the game gives you even more to enjoy- 40 new Versus arenas to fight in, adding up to a total of 120 levels to play. There's a few new power-ups, including Drill Arrows, which burrow through walls.

While the emphasis is still on frantic 4-player mayhem Ascension also adds a Quest mode, which allows you to play solo or with one friend co-op. That's somewhat of a campaign, as you fight off monsters that are spawned in from portals and make your way through harder and harder levels.

With this and Samurai Gunn hitting the PS4 you better hope you've stocked up on some extra Dual Shock 4s. Online gaming is great and all but there's nothing like having a bunch of friends in a room to yell at each other as you kill each other off, arrow by arrow. Towerfall Ascension will surely be a great fit for the PS4 and it's destined to be a hit on Twitch streaming. It's a bit sad to see it not hitting PS3 as well, but the PS4 needs its exclusives, after all. Check out the reveal trailer below!
