Wolfenstein the New Order Resolution: Runs at 1080p, 60fps on Both Xbox One and PS4 [VIDEO]

New Wolfenstein Game Created Equal: Runs in 1080p on both Xbox One and PS4

Gamers worried about inequality between the horsepower of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can rest easy: the new entry in the storied Wolfenstein franchise, Wolfenstein: The New Order, will run in 1080p at 60fps on both consoles.

There were a few games that caused a stir (and much heated debate among gamers) around the launch of the next-gen consoles: the PS4 versions ran at a higher resolution than their Xbox One counterparts. Gamers generally felt that in this new hardware generation, it was inexcusable for either console not to run all games at 1080p.

The multi-platform games in question were Thief and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Both titles ran in 1080p resolution on PS4, but only 900p and 720p respectively on Xbox One.

It's a job well done by Swedish developers MachineGames to make both versions of Wolfenstein: The New Order equal and not give gamers a decision to make (or an argument to have) based on resolution and frame rate. It was also a smart move by publisher Bethesda Softworks to get this news out early, rather than have people debate or worry about it as we saw recently with the other games.

Wolfenstein: The New Order arrives on May 20, 2014 and will be available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It's the first game in the franchise started in the 1980's since 2009's Wolfenstein, which was met with mostly good, not great, reviews. The New Order will be a singleplayer-only shooter set during the 1960s, in an alternate history in which the Nazis won World War II.
