Original Shin Megami Tensei Localized: Atlus Releases English Language Port of 1992 Classic on iOS [VIDEO]

Atlus Localizes Original Shin Megami Tensei for iOS

As if ATLUS hadn't already announced a whole lot of upcoming games this week, it looks like we'll be seeing at least one more. In a surprise announcement, Atlus has revealed that the original Shin Megami Tensei game will soon be ported to iOS devices in North America. This will be the first time that the game officially releases outside of Japan in English. Previously, fan translations were relied on to play this game.

It also seems like that that this version is based on the GBA port but combined with the superior audio from the PlayStation X release (if these fans on NeoGaf are correct, that is). The GBA version of Shin Megami Tensei includes additional content, making this iOS port a pretty impressive package for those interested in picking up the game, whether for the first time or once again but now with official ATLUS translations.

First person dungeon crawling, turn based combat, and a story that muddles the definitions of good and evil can be expected from this game. ATLUS has prepared a website detailing Shin Megami Tensei story and its brutally difficult gameplay. The site has a pre-installed walkthrough guide to help players initiate the main story, because the parameters that need to be met seem quite specific. This game is probably too difficult for my blood.

Persona 5 News: Sequel and Spinoffs Being Localized to North America [VIDEO]

I may be a massive Persona fan, but I've yet to play any of the Shin Megami Tensei games. I know that they're a separate series now, and they're vastly different, but I should probably look into at least playing SMT 4 on the Nintendo 3DS. But first I'll have buy one of those...especially if I want to play Persona Q. Oh well, don't mind me! Let's just celebrate ATLUS' week of awesome announcements. They sure know how to make people excited, don't they?

Shin Megami Tensei for iOS will be releasing March 18 for just $7.99. Who's picking it up?
