‘Resident Evil 7’: What to Expect From The Newest Game?

“Resident Evil” is a cult classic with millions of fans all over the world and a pile of games and spin-offs behind it. Now the series takes a complete turn in its formula and gives the players a completely unexpected gameplay. Third person perspective has been changed for first, zombies for lunatics and fighters have been turned into simple survivors. What else is there to expect from Capcom’s newest game?

First update on the topic comes from Yahoo. They share an announcement by Capcom that the game will have weapons, but there is a big catch to it. Fans of “Amnesia” as similar titles will feel at home with the newly acquired first person perspective, but it is quite limiting to combat and veterans of the series were showing worries that fighting will be completely removed from the game. Their worries have been proven unneeded, but the weapons which will be available in the game will be scattered, hidden and ammunition will be scarce, which will bring the series closer to the original “Resident Evil” title than to the later installments.

Those who find the change to be quite abnormal, considering the series’ history, have an article to read, which is shared by Ecumenical News. They share a statement by one of the game’s producers Masachika Kawata who had been questioned about the loss of horror in the series. He claimed that considering the spin-offs of the series, it is normal to consider a loss in the horror element. He has been thinking about it and he has prepared for it. The change in perspective and gameplay sure seems to be Kawata keeping to his word.

Those of you who cannot wait to try the new “Resident Evil 7” can try some of its atmosphere in the newest trailer released for Japanese TV. Gamespot has shared the trailer on their page and it looks both promising and horrifying both in good way.

“Resident Evil 7” will be released on 24 January for PC, PS 4 and XBOX One.
