Thanks to the magical power of reddit, we can now see just what the censored South Park: The Stick of Truth scenes will look like. You didn't expect them to just take them out, did they? After all, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are no strangers to controversy but they always seem to get around it their own way. Just look at "South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut"- the feature film which was originally titled "South Park: All Hell Breaks Loose" until the MPAA objected to the use of "hell" in the title and they resubmitted it- with the far more inappropriate title.
So of course when they had to censor the scenes in the game, they got their revenge in their usual way. As you can see they let you know just what's happening in order to shed light on the absurdity of the situation. The above picture was taken from a gamer playing an early copy of the game in Europe and as you can see, they tell you exactly what you're missing. The audio is reportedly intact, only the video is obscured.
According to a redditor who claims to be a producer of the game this is actually one of five versions of the game. Says commentator walgiz- "I'm the Associate Producer on the game for Ubisoft. We did make a separate version just for Germany/Austria. There's actually 5 versions: North/South America, Europe, Germany, Australia, and Russia. Only the North/South American one is completely uncensored on every platform. The Australian one is censored on all platforms, the European and Russian ones are censored on console only, and the German one is censored on console for anal probing etc as shown in this screenshot, and censored on both console and PC for swastikas, Heil Hitler arm salutes, etc."
That Germany thing is par for the course- it's actually illegal to display any Nazi imagery in the country, and Australia is known for its ridiculous censorhip and sometimes straight-out banning of games. All of Europe is a surprise though. I guess North and South American gamers will get to see if it was really as bad as they all claim come Tuesday.
Don't forget that besides the anal probing scenes (didn't the very first episode of "South Park" feature anal probing?) there's an abortion mini-game that's been taken out. There's also an achievement/trophy list to peruse that will show you all the other awful things you'll get up to in the game, like joining the KKK, throwing turds at enemies, and farting on dogs.
