It's been a while since we last heard about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, especially since it was bypassed during Microsoft's event during the last quarter of the year. And fans are definitely excited about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 as the 2-in-1 laptop is rumored to be a 4K tablet as well.

This is not surprising for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, as several gadgets of late have been riding the 4K video trend. It's still a welcome surprise for everyone anticipating its release. But what else can fans expect from the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which is slated to release next year?

Release dates: When do we get the Microsoft Surface Book 2?

Currently, reports are pegging the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 on March 2017. This was deduced from Microsoft's historical launch dates, as the tech giant usually releases new devices on March and September every year. It had been a disappointment when the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was bypassed during the Worldwide Developers Conference as well as the Microsoft event during the fall, so hopefully the hotly anticipated device launches then.

Specifications and features

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5's delay would certainly be worthwhile if its reported specifications hold true. For one, it's expected to have 4K video capability, powered by the latest Intel Kaby Lake processors. Its base model would come with a 128GB solid state storage and 4GB of RAM plus a touchscreen stylus. The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also expected to come at $999 for its lowest end configuration.

Surface Phone

Meanwhile, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also expected to launch alongside the Microsoft Surface Phone, another highly anticipated gadget from Microsoft. No solid news nor reports on how the Surface Phone would look like or be built of, however. Stay tuned for more updates on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
