'Robinson: The Journey' Offers Crytek VR Adventure Game; Playable On Oculus in January 2017

VR fans and gamers have something new to look forward to come January 2017. "Robinson: The Journey" will make its way to Oculus Rift next month, following the end of its PlayStation VR exclusivity deal.

The news comes via Engadget, which reports that Crytek's "Robinson: The Journey" is expected to showcase improved graphics on the Oculus Rift since it received an update from PlayStation 4 to PS4 Pro. Now that the Crytek VR adventure game is arriving to Oculus in January 2017, it is expected to ease the company's financial troubles as of late.

According to Eurogamer, Crytek was recently restructured, and with it will close several of its studios due to their struggle in paying their developers' fees. Instead, the company will be focusing on their studios in Frankfurt and Kiev, and promises to continue to develop on more premium IPs moving forward. According to Crytek, the game engine CryEngine will "will remain a core pillar of Crytek's overall strategy, with enterprise licensees and indie developers alike continuing to be served by regular engine updates."

WCCFTech reports that as per "Robinson: The Journey" lead 3D artist Tom Deerberg, VR is definitely the "next logical step in the evolution of immersive game worlds." Because of VR, gamers are able to get a sense of the scale of the world they are exploring and are not limited to a TV screen. With "Robinson: The Journey," the company was able to create a visually stunning experience, which they hope to bring to the Oculus Rift in January 2017 as well.
